They encounter a young girl named Rose and a less than reputable "holy man" known as Father Cornello. Military - The military is a strong force in Amestris, though their prescence is not highly appreciated amongst its residents. Its soldiers and state alchemists are not usually welcomed or respected by the people. The country has been in an almost constant state of war since King Bradley became the leader of the country. October 3 - The date etched into Edward's pocketwatch is also the date he and Alphonse burned their home to the ground to keep themselves from returning home before their journey was complete, no matter how difficult it became.
